Alexis Mac Allister 'Very Sad' Over Liverpool Contract Situation

Alexis Mac Allister is feeling the weight of uncertainty at Liverpool after revealing he has not been offered a new contract, which has left him "very sad." The 27-year-old midfielder, who joined the club in the summer of 2023, still has two years remaining on his current deal. This news comes on the heels of fellow midfielders Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch securing new long-term contracts this year, intensifying Mac Allister's feelings of disappointment.

In a recent press conference, Mac Allister shared his thoughts on the situation, admitting that he had options to leave the club during the summer transfer window. He stated, "There was a chance [to leave]... I received the news that the club was not in a position to offer me a new contract, which makes me very, very sad."

Despite his unhappiness, Mac Allister emphasized his commitment to Liverpool, stating, "I always give my 100 per cent for this football club, every single day in training and games." He expressed happiness for his teammates who secured new deals but couldn't help feeling a tinge of sadness at his own situation. "I see Dominik and Ryan renewing their contracts, and that makes me very happy because they deserve it, but at the same time it makes me a little bit sad that I didn't get mine."

Mac Allister's situation is particularly poignant given his contributions to Liverpool's successes, including a Premier League title. He mentioned that the club has not provided a clear explanation for the lack of a new contract offer, relying instead on communication through his agent. "There wasn't any direct conversation with me; it was with my agent. What I got from my agent was that they were not in a position to renew me. It’s really sad because we won a Premier League together, and I always give my best."

As Liverpool prepares for their Champions League opener against Atletico Madrid, Mac Allister remains focused on performing well. He stated, "The fans don’t need to worry because I will give my 100 per cent until the last day I’m here. We will see what happens. Maybe it’s going to depend on how I perform during these years."

Despite the uncertainty, he reiterated his love for the club, saying, "This is the right club. I love being here, this is something special." The question now is whether his performances can persuade the club to reconsider its decision before his current contract runs out.
