Chelsea beat Western Sydney Wanderers 6-4 at Accor Stadium in a free-scoring contest that swung repeatedly. D. Satpaev opened the scoring in the sixth minute, but Western Sydney replied through A. Pantazopoulos and A. Hammond. D. Essugo levelled before the break, and the sides traded goals again after half-time, with D. Scicluna and A. Lual finding the net for the Wanderers.

The decisive spell came late: after Lual made it 4-3 in the 78th minute, Joao Pedro scored three times in the closing stages, including a goal assisted by C. Palmer, to put Chelsea beyond reach. J. Gittens had also scored for the Blues in the second half.

Chelsea will take the attacking return from a six-goal win, but conceding four will temper the satisfaction. For Western Sydney, goals from four different scorers showed their threat, while the late collapse left them with no reward.
