Cristian Romero’s five-year stay in north London appears to be nearing its conclusion after Inter Milan confirmed active negotiations to sign the Tottenham Hotspur captain. The Argentina centre-back, who recently helped his national team reach a second consecutive World Cup final, is yet to return for pre-season training while taking extended time off. However, momentum is rapidly building around his potential departure, with formal discussions now taking place between all parties involved.

Inter Milan Open Official Talks

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio publicly confirmed that the Serie A club has initiated talks with both Tottenham and the player's representative. Speaking to Sky Italia, Ausilio stated that while complex transfers take time, Inter have directly expressed their interest and held preliminary meetings to explore a deal for the defender.

Romero's position at Spurs has come under scrutiny following a difficult campaign where his leadership and discipline were regularly questioned. During a season in which Tottenham only narrowly avoided relegation, the defender suffered several injuries and picked up four separate suspensions.
