Erling Haaland is turning heads and breaking records at a staggering pace. Following his recent double that secured a 2-0 win for Manchester City against Porto in the Champions League, the Norwegian striker has now scored a remarkable 364 goals across his career in just 424 matches.

Jamie Carragher, the former Liverpool defender, is convinced that Haaland is destined for greatness. He stated, "I just can't see Haaland not scoring 1,000 goals or being the best goalscorer of all time." This assertion comes as Haaland reaches a pivotal moment in his career, now sitting as Manchester City’s third-highest goalscorer with 167 goals in only 203 appearances. He trails the legendary Sergio Aguero by just 93 goals.

What makes Haaland's achievements even more impressive is his scoring consistency. In the Champions League alone, he has netted 42 goals in 39 appearances, the highest tally of any player since his debut in the competition in the 2019-20 season. Carragher noted that while scoring two goals in a crucial match would be a monumental feat for most strikers, it has become almost routine for Haaland, who continues to redefine expectations.

After the match against Porto, Haaland expressed a desire for more, indicating that he felt he could have scored even more goals. "I could have easily had a few more goals," he said, showcasing his relentless drive for improvement.

At just 26 years old, Haaland is already outpacing the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at the same stage in their careers. Messi had 348 goals at 26, while Ronaldo was at 219. Haaland's current trajectory suggests the 1,000-goal milestone is within reach, especially considering his average of 51 goals per year since joining Manchester City in 2022.

As he prepares to take on Manchester United in the upcoming Premier League match, the stakes are high for Haaland and City. He is just one goal away from becoming the club's all-time top scorer in the Champions League, tying Aguero's record of 36 goals. The anticipation surrounding Haaland's next performance is palpable, as fans and analysts alike wonder just how far he can push the boundaries of goal-scoring in modern football.

With every game, Haaland inches closer to potentially rewriting the history books, and the football world is watching closely. Carragher’s predictions may not be as far-fetched as they seem, as Haaland continues to deliver on the biggest stages and defy all expectations.
