Chelsea won a remarkable 6-4 match against Western Sydney Wanderers at Accor Stadium, but the scoreline came after a contest that repeatedly swung both ways. D. Satpaev put Chelsea ahead in the sixth minute; Wanderers replied through A. Pantazopoulos and A. Hammond before D. Essugo made it 2-2 before half-time.

D. Scicluna restored the visitors’ lead in the 62nd minute, only for J. Gittens to answer four minutes later. A. Lual made it 4-3 to Wanderers in the 78th, but Chelsea finished with a flourish: Joao Pedro scored in the 80th, 85th and 89th minutes to complete his hat-trick and seal the win.

Key moment: Joao Pedro’s late burst turned a one-goal deficit into a Chelsea victory, with his final two strikes arriving in the closing stages.

What it means: Chelsea’s six goals showed their attacking threat, but conceding four—and falling behind three times—made this a far less comfortable win than the result suggests.
