Liverpool FC is navigating a challenging period as injuries impact its squad depth. The recent return of Joe Gomez, who played 45 minutes in the 3-1 win over Tottenham, has provided some relief. Gomez had been sidelined since July due to a muscle injury sustained during pre-season, but his comeback is a positive sign for manager Andoni Iraola, who is beginning to see his Anfield project take shape.

However, the Reds are still waiting on key players to return to action. Hugo Ekitike remains a significant absentee after rupturing his Achilles last April against Paris Saint-Germain. Ekitike missed the World Cup and is now focused on a potential comeback before the end of the year. He has recently shared a video of himself doing ball work, indicating progress in his recovery, but he is not expected to rejoin the squad imminently. The French striker's potential return date is set for Sunday, October 11, when Liverpool will host Manchester City.

In addition, Federico Chiesa is also close to returning. He has struggled with a back issue since the final pre-season friendly against Como in August and has yet to feature this season. Chiesa could be back in team training before the international break at the end of the month, providing another boost for the Reds.

Lastly, Giovanni Leoni is working his way back after tearing his ACL on his debut against Southampton last season. While he is expected to return to training during the upcoming international break, it remains uncertain when he will be match-fit. Leoni's absence has been felt, and fans will be eager to see him back on the pitch soon. As Liverpool looks to build momentum, the return of these players could be crucial in their pursuit of success this season.
