Chelsea edge Western Sydney Wanderers 6-4 in goal-filled contest

Chelsea won a wild 6-4 match at Accor Stadium, with Joao Pedro scoring three times after Western Sydney Wanderers twice moved in front.
Chelsea beat Western Sydney Wanderers 6-4 at Accor Stadium in a high-scoring contest that swung repeatedly. D. Satpaev put Chelsea ahead in the sixth minute, but goals from A. Pantazopoulos and A. Hammond gave the Wanderers the lead. D. Essugo levelled before half-time, and D. Scicluna restored the visitors’ advantage early in the second half.
The key shift came after J. Gittens made it 3-3 in the 66th minute. A. Lual put the Wanderers ahead again, but Joao Pedro’s late burst settled the match: he scored in the 80th, 85th and 89th minutes, with C. Palmer assisting the second of those goals.
Chelsea leave with the win and six goals to show for their attacking threat. The four goals conceded, though, underline how open the match became; for the Wanderers, their three separate leads brought no reward.
