Tottenham may have a timely boost before Leeds visit, but there is no guarantee Savio will be ready to play. The winger has returned to the club’s training ground after missing three Premier League matches with a muscle problem, giving Spurs a reason for optimism without confirming his availability.

Savio shared pictures from Hotspur Way on Tuesday evening, showing him back among his teammates. But he was wearing running trainers rather than football boots, and the images do not establish whether he joined the first-team session or worked separately. His return to the training ground marks progress; it is not yet proof he is fit for selection.

The 22-year-old has been out since suffering the muscle issue before Tottenham’s trip to Marbella. Roberto De Zerbi said at the time that the winger would be sidelined for “some weeks”, while a later update ahead of the Crystal Palace match confirmed he remained injured. The manager is due to address the media on Friday, when he may provide a clearer picture ahead of the Leeds game.

Tottenham’s immediate stakes are clear: they have the opportunity to win four Premier League games in a row for the first time since October 2023. Savio’s return could give De Zerbi another attacking option if he is ready, but the evidence so far points only to a step forward in his recovery—not a confirmed comeback.

De Zerbi has also stressed the importance of what his team have changed in recent weeks. He said Tottenham are now “playing as a team”, contrasting that with a side he felt had previously been “many very good players, but not as a team”. The manager’s comments underline that he sees collective unity, not simply individual talent, as central to the improvement.

He has also warned against letting recent progress erase the difficult position Tottenham were in. “We can’t forget where we have been two weeks ago,” De Zerbi said, describing that reminder as crucial for the team. With Leeds next, Spurs have a chance to keep building on their run—and Savio’s return to the training ground adds a hopeful note, even as the final decision on his availability remains open.
