Tottenham Hotspur is not slowing down in the transfer market this summer. After a flurry of signings, the club has now turned its attention to Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo's name has been circulating in transfer rumors, and Spurs have officially expressed interest in acquiring the Dutch international. The urgency comes as manager Roberto De Zerbi seeks to enhance his attacking options, especially with Richarlison's uncertain future at the club. Richarlison's indecision could open the door for Gakpo, who previously shone at PSV Eindhoven before joining Liverpool.

Despite the links, Tottenham has yet to make a formal bid for the 27-year-old. However, reports suggest that this could soon change. The Reds are reportedly valuing Gakpo at around £60 million, a significant leap from the £35 million they invested in him just last January. This potential move would contribute to Tottenham's already staggering summer spending, which is projected to exceed £300 million.

The club has been active in the transfer market, securing high-profile signings such as Sandro Tonali for £100 million and Mateus Fernandes for £85 million. Additionally, they brought in Jan-Paul van Hecke for £52 million and added free agents Marco Senesi and Andrew Robertson, the latter being Gakpo's former teammate at Liverpool.

De Zerbi remains optimistic about the club's transfer strategy. He stated, "I think we’re working well. Now let’s continue. We still have 10 days before the start of the Premier League. We’re trying to integrate the incoming players as best we can and complete the squad, because we still have some work to do on the market."

The manager emphasized the importance of this season as a rebuilding phase, transitioning from last year’s survival mode to establishing a more sustainable and competitive team in what he describes as the most challenging league in Europe.

Cody Gakpo had a respectable season with Liverpool, netting nine goals and providing six assists across 52 appearances. However, with the arrival of new talent at Anfield, including their pursuit of PSG's Bradley Barcola, Gakpo may find himself further down the pecking order, competing for minutes with the likes of Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak.

As the summer transfer window continues to unfold, all eyes will be on Tottenham to see if they can finalize a deal for Gakpo, adding another crucial piece to their ambitious project. The stakes are high, and with the Premier League season just around the corner, the pressure is on for Spurs to solidify their squad and make a statement in the upcoming campaign.
