Tottenham Hotspur has taken an unexpected step in the transfer market by expressing interest in Victor Osimhen, the 27-year-old striker currently playing for Galatasaray. This pursuit comes as manager Roberto De Zerbi aims to strengthen his attacking lineup following a summer of substantial investment in defenders and midfielders.

Reports indicate that Tottenham has made an initial offer between £50 million and £55 million to Galatasaray, whose asking price for the Nigerian international stands at around £65 million. This interest from Spurs adds to the growing list of clubs monitoring Osimhen, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Atletico Madrid, each keen on bolstering their forward options.

De Zerbi has been vocal about his desire to enhance the attacking capabilities of his squad. After a pre-season match against Auckland, he stated, "The target now is to complete the attacking positions. We want the first target, the first level, because anyway we are already important players, but I think to start the new project we need another couple of important players, for sure."

This comment reflects his commitment to ensure that Tottenham competes effectively in the upcoming season. With Spurs having already splashed nearly £250 million on new signings, De Zerbi is under pressure to find players who can consistently find the back of the net.

Interestingly, Osimhen's path to the Premier League has been fraught with missed opportunities. He nearly joined Chelsea last summer, but that deal fell through at the last minute, leading him to Galatasaray on loan before making a permanent switch for a record fee in Turkish football.

As the transfer window continues, uncertainty looms over Spurs' interest in Osimhen. De Zerbi has hinted at a potential "bomba" signing, although when pressed, he clarified that his comments about a big signing might have been misinterpreted. He remains focused on making improvements to a squad already rich with talent but in need of a prolific goalscorer to elevate their performance in the Premier League.

With the clock ticking down to the transfer deadline, Tottenham's pursuit of Osimhen is set against a backdrop of intense competition and high expectations, making this summer's transfer dealings a critical juncture for the club as they look to reclaim their status among the Premier League elite.
