Xabi Alonso Praises Estevao’s Response at Chelsea

A 2-0 win over Manchester United gave Chelsea a result to celebrate — and winger Estevao a chance to answer his limited gametime on the pitch. Manager Xabi Alonso praised the youngster’s performance and response after the Premier League match.

For Estevao, the opportunity was about more than simply taking part. His display came after a spell in which he had not been getting much gametime, making his contribution against United a timely way to show what he could offer when called upon.

Chelsea’s victory over a struggling United side provided the setting. The scoreline put the Blues two goals clear, while Alonso’s comments drew attention to a player whose response to a reduced role was a central talking point after the match.

Praise from the manager does not, by itself, settle what comes next for Estevao. But the performance gave Alonso a reason to highlight how the winger handled his opportunity — a positive note for Chelsea to take from a win that also brought three points in the Premier League.

The immediate story is clear: Estevao responded on the pitch, and Alonso made sure that effort was recognised. Chelsea will now look to build on the 2-0 result, while the winger has put a strong case forward through his performance.
