Chelsea beat Western Sydney Wanderers 6-4 at Accor Stadium in a wildly open match that kept swinging between the sides. D. Satpaev put Chelsea ahead in the sixth minute, but Western Sydney replied through A. Pantazopoulos and A. Hammond. D. Essugo levelled before the break, then D. Scicluna restored the Wanderers’ lead after half-time.

The key shift came after A. Lual made it 4-3 in the 78th minute. Joao Pedro equalised two minutes later, then struck again in the 85th and 89th minutes to complete his hat-trick and secure Chelsea’s win. J. Gittens had also scored for Chelsea in the 66th minute.

Chelsea will take confidence from their late attacking surge, but conceding four goals will temper the satisfaction. For Western Sydney, four goals showed their threat; letting a late lead slip will be the lasting frustration.
