Chelsea won a wild contest at Accor Stadium, with Joao Pedro scoring three times after Western Sydney Wanderers had twice moved ahead.
Chelsea edged Western Sydney Wanderers 6-4 at Accor Stadium in a breathless match that swung repeatedly. D. Satpaev put Chelsea ahead in the sixth minute, but goals from A. Pantazopoulos and A. Hammond turned the game around before D. Essugo levelled in the 38th minute.
Western Sydney struck again through D. Scicluna in the 62nd minute, only for J. Gittens to equalise four minutes later. The decisive spell came late: Joao Pedro scored in the 80th, 85th and 89th minutes, completing a hat-trick and giving Chelsea daylight. A. Lual’s 78th-minute goal had briefly kept the Wanderers in the contest.
The six-goal haul showcased Chelsea’s attacking threat, while conceding four after twice falling behind underlined how open the match became. For Western Sydney, three leads or level scores were not enough to contain Chelsea’s late surge.
