Chelsea won a breathless 6-4 contest against Western Sydney Wanderers at Accor Stadium, in a match that repeatedly swung between the sides. D. Satpaev put Chelsea ahead in the sixth minute, but Western Sydney replied through A. Pantazopoulos and A. Hammond to lead 2-1. D. Essugo levelled before half-time.

The key moment came late: after D. Scicluna and A. Lual kept Western Sydney in the contest, Joao Pedro scored in the 80th, 85th and 89th minutes. J. Gittens also found the net for Chelsea in the second half, while the hosts’ goalscoring effort was not enough to prevent defeat.

The result gives Chelsea the win, but conceding four goals will temper the satisfaction of a six-goal return. For Western Sydney, four goals showed their threat, yet the late collapse turned a lively performance into a loss.
