Chelsea edged Western Sydney Wanderers 6-4 at Accor Stadium in a goal-filled encounter that swung repeatedly. D. Satpaev opened the scoring in the sixth minute, but Western Sydney replied through A. Pantazopoulos and A. Hammond. D. Essugo levelled before the break, then D. Scicluna put the Wanderers back in front after half-time.

The key spell came late: J. Gittens equalised in the 66th minute, and after A. Lual restored Western Sydney’s lead, Joao Pedro struck in the 80th, 85th and 89th minutes to complete his hat-trick and seal Chelsea’s win.

Chelsea will take encouragement from their scoring threat and late response, while conceding four goals will temper the satisfaction. For the Wanderers, four goals showed their ability to trouble Chelsea, but they could not hold on as the visitors finished strongly.
