Joao Pedro’s hat-trick powers Chelsea to 6-4 win over Western Sydney Wanderers

Chelsea edged a wild, ten-goal contest at Accor Stadium, with Joao Pedro striking three times late on after Western Sydney Wanderers had kept the scoreline tight.
Chelsea beat Western Sydney Wanderers 6-4 at Accor Stadium in a breathless match that swung repeatedly. D. Satpaev opened the scoring in the sixth minute, but Western Sydney replied through A. Pantazopoulos and A. Hammond to lead 2-1. D. Essugo levelled before half-time, and the sides traded goals again after the break, with D. Scicluna and A. Lual scoring for the Wanderers and J. Gittens replying for Chelsea.
The decisive spell belonged to Joao Pedro. He put Chelsea ahead in the 80th minute, added another five minutes later from a C. Palmer assist, then completed his hat-trick in the 89th. His late burst turned a fiercely open contest into a Chelsea victory.
The result gives Chelsea a six-goal haul, but conceding four will temper the satisfaction. For the Wanderers, goals from four different scorers showed their threat, yet they could not contain Chelsea’s late finishing.
