Manchester City face a defining summer in their midfield structure as Real Madrid push to sign Spanish international Rodri. Real Madrid Advance Talks for Rodri

Real Madrid have registered clear intent to bring Rodri back to his homeland. The Spanish side have held encouraging discussions with the midfielder and personal terms are understood to be established. However, the clubs have yet to reach a financial compromise.

City rejected an initial approach from Madrid, but reports suggest the European giants are preparing a formal proposal valued between £43 million and £51 million (€50 million to €60 million). While Real Madrid remain confident of negotiating a transfer fee given his contract status, Manchester City's primary stance is that they do not want to sell their key midfielder. City instead retain hope of locking him down to a new long-term deal.

City Target Bouaddi as Midfield Successor

With uncertainty surrounding Rodri’s future, Manchester City are actively preparing for potential roster changes by targeting Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi. The 18-year-old Moroccan youngster, who impressed at the World Cup, is closing in on a move to the Etihad after agreeing to personal terms.

Lille had previously held an €80 million valuation for Bouaddi, but a final fee between the two sides has not yet been confirmed as negotiations reach their closing stages.
