Tyrell Malacia Joins FC Cincinnati After Manchester United Exit

Tyrell Malacia makes a move to FC Cincinnati after leaving Manchester United, bringing his experience to the MLS side.

FC Cincinnati has secured the signing of Tyrell Malacia, the former Manchester United left-back, on a free transfer. The 27-year-old Netherlands international left Old Trafford at the end of last season after a challenging period marred by injuries.

Malacia's journey in England began when he joined United from Feyenoord in 2022, but he made only 50 appearances there. Despite the setbacks, his time at Manchester United showcased his potential at the highest level of football.

Cincinnati's general manager, Chris Albright, expressed enthusiasm about Malacia's addition to the squad. He noted that the defender brings valuable experience and understands the demands of competing at elite levels. Albright emphasized Malacia's quality on the ball, defensive instincts, and team-first mentality, all of which are expected to enhance the team's performance.

Malacia’s contract with FC Cincinnati runs until next June, with an option to extend for the 2027-28 season, giving the club flexibility as they build their roster.

This move marks a new chapter for Malacia as he transitions to Major League Soccer, where he aims to make a significant impact and help Cincinnati in their quest for success in the league.
